Netiquette for Students--Middle to High School Students
Netiquette is how one communicates while on the internet. It is the acceptable and appropriate manner in which communication is expressed via technology.
Rules and Guidelines:
- Be courteous to other students--treat others as you would like to be treated online.
- Double check your spelling and grammatical errors before you send an e-mail or discussion.
- Make sure what you are typing is your own words. Do not plagiarise
- Look over what others have written in a discussion board to make sure your post is relevant and on topic. Make sure not to take their ideas those.
- Do not download anything online unless you have permission to do so.
- Keep all passwords or personal information secretive. Do not pass these out via internet.
- Cite others words if using in a post.
- Make sure that there is an appropriate subject header that expresses what the post or e-mail contains content wise.
- Keep all post and emails short and concise.
- Watch how you abbreviate or type (capitals, emoji’s, slang) as others may not be able to understand the material.
- Do not Cyber-bully or “flame” others online.
- Do not retaliate if someone is hurtful or disrespectful online.
